Newcastle United defender Dan Burn will be out for four to six weeks after injuring his rib and lungs. He was hospitalized following an incident with Sunderland's Nordi Mukiele. Manager Eddie Howe confirmed the defender's absence ahead of Newcastle's League Cup quarter-final against Fulham.

Burn was unable to complete the first half of the heated match at the Stadium of Light, which Newcastle lost 1-0 by way of a Nick Woltemade own goal, after a nasty collision with Sunderland defender Nordi Mukiele, who was booked for his troubles.
