Opponents of President Donald Trump ’s administration are set to rally in hundreds of cities on Saturday during the military parade in Washington for the Army’s 250th anniversary — which coincides with Trump’s birthday — as protests grow in response to his immigration policies.

The new line of attack from Newsom, who is widely considered a top contender for president in 2028, comes after he told Fox LA earlier this week that Trump “is not the same person that I dealt with just four years ago, and he’s incapable now of even a train of thought. He’s making things up.”

Protests are slated for a seventh day as the sun comes up, with Marines possibly to be deployed within the next day. While that city remains the focal point for the protests, we're also seeing them ramp up nationwide.

The demonstrations coincide with a Flag Day military parade in Washington honoring the U.S. Army’s 250th birthday.

Members of the L.A.P.D. in downtown Los Angeles. National Guard troops in riot gear surrounded a federal building. Protests started near a complex of federal buildings but spread to other areas downtown in the evening. Law enforcement officers were stationed around the federal complex all day.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass on Tuesday night ordered an overnight curfew covering a large portion of the city’s Downtown area while California Gov. Gavin Newsom delivered a televised address where he once again attacked President Donald Trump and described his decision to send military forces to handle the protests against immigration raids as a “perilous moment.

Newsom says Trump’s LA actions marks the onset of a much broader effort to overturn political and cultural norms.

It's been five days since anti-ICE demonstrations erupted in Los Angeles, some turning violent between protesters and law enforcement officers, prompting President Trump to deploy National Guard troops and hundreds of Marines.
